Mobile movie screen for Nokia N96 and N95

According to Carl Zeiss, anyone that wants to watch television or movies on Nokia's new N96 multimedia mobile phone in real cinema quality should purchase the cinemizer video eyewear. The cinemizer is currently on display in Cologne at the photokina trade fair (Hall 02.1, booth C019). The 115 gram video goggles simulate a more than one meter movie screen at a distance of two meters. The mobile movie screen can be connected to either the new N96 super class mobile phone or its predecessor, the N95. The N96 offers a unique feature: In addition to all video formats, the TV signal from the integrated DVB-T receiver is displayed on the video eyewear without loss of quality.

“Anyone that has experienced their favorite show, a TV movie, a music clip, a YouTube video or a soccer game on the cinemizer screen, will no longer be satisfied with a standard screen, not to mention a small phone display,” states Andreas Klavehn, Marketing Multimedia Devices Manager at cinemizer developer Carl Zeiss.

Cinemizer video eyewear for (practically) all iPods

Carl Zeiss, manufacturer of the cinemizer – a cult object among Apple fans, emphasizes that its video eyewear works with all current iPod models except the iPod Shuffle. Current refers to all models since September 2007. “Anyone that has purchased an iPod Classic, Nano or Touch in the last 12 months can rest assured that they can watch movies on the portable home cinema,” says Andreas Klavehn, Marketing Multimedia Devices Manager at Carl Zeiss. This video eyewear enables you to watch music videos, movies, TV shows, comic strips and any other video formats available via iTunes as if you were looking at a more-than-one-meter movie screen at a distance of two meters.

For each iPod model, Carl Zeiss provides a matching holder, in which the music/video player is safely stored during the "performance." The goggles can be individually adjusted to the shape of the wearer's head, the bridge of their nose and their ears. Two earphones flexibly mounted to the frame provide the movie sound. A small, extra battery supplies the portable movie theater with four hours of power so that the iPod battery is not drained. Carl Zeiss even thought of a little trick for eyeglass wearers: short- and farsightedness up to 3.5 D can be set on the video eyewear.
