Sharp develops 5 megapixel 3x optical zoom CCD module for mobile phones

Sharp has developed a compact building block for integration in mobile phones. The new LZ0P3770 module features a five megapixel CCD and a 3x optical linear zoom lens. According to Sharp, this is the first camera module that features an inner zoom for mobile phones. In addition, the new module features auto focus, smear-reduction, a mechanical shutter and a high refractive hybrid lens which consists of glass and plastic elements.
