Varioptic and IVA Corporation announce the launch of the first 2 Megapixel CMOS digital camera with a variable focus liquid lens – IVIN- 2M USB 2.0.

The new IVIN- 2M USB 2.0 camera features a CMOS imager with selectable display resolution from 320 X 240 @ 30 frames/second up to 1600 X 1200 @ 15 frames/second incorporating a progressive scan sensor with an electronic rolling shutter. At 39mm by 37mm, it is a very low power, high performance CMOS image acquisition device. It integrates a Varioptic variable focus Liquid Lens allowing “close up” to infinity focus control done completely electronically with no moving parts.  The user has complete real-time dynamic control over focus during operation with the software GUI supplied with the camera, or set in the auto focus mode for completely automatic focus. Varioptic's liquid lens features some crucial commercial advantages over traditional technologies in terms of cost, size, robustness, power consumption and speed.

The IVIN- 2M USB 2.0 can be used in several applications such as biometrics (excluding iris identification), surveillance, security systems, vision applications and general imaging systems.  “We are delighted to work with IVA Corporation'', said Christian Dupont, CEO of Varioptic. “The IVIN- 2M USB 2.0 is ideally suited to bring to market, in a very short time, high performance autofocus cameras for a wide range of industrial and security applications.” David Birkner, President of IVA Corporation, commented: “Incorporating the liquid lens represents a significant advantage over other autofocus technologies.''. “Our objective is to provide innovative USB camera solutions to industrial manufacturers and Varioptic's liquid lens leads the way for autofocus solutions in this sector.”

The IVIN- 2M USB 2.0 can be ordered through RMA Electronics, Inc. (MA), the world-wide exclusive distributor of the IVA USB cameras.

Varioptic will be demonstrating the IVIN- 2M USB 2.0 at Opto in Paris from 25th to 27th September and CEATEC in Tokyo from 1st to 6th October on booth 8C08, Hall 8.
