Canon releases firmware update for the EOS D60: Firmware Version 1.0.4

EOS D60 Firmware Version 1.0.4 resolves the following issues, which may occur in the RAW mode depending on shutter release timing:

1. Thumbnail is black. *1
2. Data is not written to CF card (or microdrive). *2

*1 Only the thumbnail image is affected, there is no problem with the main image.
*2 With EOS D60 cameras that have Firmware Version 1.0.0, 1.0.1 or 1.0.2 installed, in cases where data stored in the camera's buffer memory has not yet been written to the CF card or microdrive, that data will be written when the menu button is pressed, or when the shutter button is pressed halfway.
EOS D60 Firmware Version 1.0.4 can be used to update EOS D60 cameras with Firmware Version(s) 1.0.0, 1.0.1 or 1.0.2.

Q: Should all EOS D60 cameras with earlier firmware versions installed be updated to Firmware Version 1.0.4?
A: Yes.

Q: Are improvements from Firmware Version 1.0.2 also included ?
A: Yes, they are. For your reference, Version 1.0.2 resolves the following issues which can occur depending on the camera settings, scene and shooting time. Underexposure may occur in low light situations when SI (Superimpose) display is ON.
Duplicate file numbers may occur when more than 100 images are recorded per folder.

Q: How do I check the camera's current firmware version number?
A: Turn the Main Switch ON, and press the MENU button to display the menu. Turn the Quick Control Dial, and you will see the "Firmware Ver.1.0.x" at the end of the settings shown in yellow, which is the currently installed firmware version number. For more details , please refer to the instruction manual on pages 32, 33 and 121.
