Canon starts development of a Hybrid Image Stabilizer, a new optical stabilization technology that compensates for both the angle and shift camera shake. The technology incorporates an angular velocity sensor that detects angle-based shaking, as well as a new sensor to detect the amount of shift-based camera shake. It also employs a newly developed algorithm that uses data from the 2 sensors to make optimal adjustments. The technology will be in a new dSLR camera lens planned for the end of this year...
