Sharp develops the industry smallest 10 Megapixel CCD image sensor

Sharp has developed the smallest 10 Megapixel CCD image sensor in the industry. The new 1/1.7" CCD stores 3696 x 2776 pixels, for a total size of 10.260.096. Production will begin in January 2006 and we will see new 10 Mp digital cameras shortly thereafter. Of course, the question is how many (ultra) compact camera users need these megapixels. One thing is certain, more pixels require more computer memory and harddisk capacity...
