Olympus and FujiFilm announce the availability of a new storage card, the x3 xD-Picture Card, in the autumn 2002.
The main characteristics of the card:
- Dimensions: 20 x 25 x 1.7mm
- Weight: only 2 gram
- Capacity: 16, 32, 64, 128MB initially
- 256, 512MB in Dec02 (max: 8GB !)
To ensure that the new card can be used widely from the start a number of accessories is announced at the same time: a PC Card adapter, a Compact Flash Card adapter and a USB card reader for SM and XD cards.
