Kodak introduces a new image sensor technology that will make dark, blurry digital photos a thing of the past. The new technology provides a 2x to 4x increase in sensitivity to light compared to current sensor designs. Image sensors in a digital camera convert light into electric charge. A typical image sensor (except for Foveon's) is based on the "Bayer Pattern," an arrangement of red, green, and blue. In this new design, half of the pixels collect green light, with the remaining pixels split evenly between sensitivity to red and blue light...More
