Yesterday's Canon HV20 launch has illustrated that high-definiton camcorders can be delivered in small packages nowadays. An extreme case is the MicroHDTV camera developed by researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany. Measuring only 4 by 4 by 8 cm, the camera is smaller than a bar of soap and can even be accommodated in a cramped racing-car cockpit or a ski jumper's helmet.
