Today, 25 years ago, IBM made the headlines with the release of the Personal Computer, the IBM 5150. All in all a remarkable step for a large company, steeped in tradition, but willing and able to set aside its "business as usual" methods to produce in volume a tiny computer of top quality, intended for both consumers and business, and all of that was done in just one year! An "expanded" system for business use, with 256 KB memory, color graphics, two 160 KB diskette drives and a printer would set you back about $4,500 in those days...More
