Nikon releases D70 B firmware version 1.0.3, adressing this issue:
When the mode dial was set to an exposure mode, and II selected for Color mode in the Custom item of the Optimize image menu, and then an option other than Custom selected from the Optimize image menu, JPEG images were recognized as having the Adobe RGB color space when opened in applications such as Adobe Photoshop, got it !?...More
