Sanyo releases the Sanyo VPC-J1, nick named Xacti, a combination of the words exact and active to illustrate their efforts to combine still imaging and video imaging into a single speedy digital camera. This camera was announced in Japan in February as the Sanyo DSC-J1. Its impressive video specifications are 30 frames per sec. in VGA (640 x 480) mode, on par with the Fuji Finepix M603.
