Hitachi Japan re-enters the digital still camera arena with the 1.3 Mpixel HDC-1. The last Hitachi digital still camera on the market was the Hitachi M2 in Oct. 1998. The new offering is a compact entry level camera  that uses interpolation to produce 1600x1200 pixels images from its 1.3 Mp CMOS image sensor.
