Panasonic announces the Lumix DMC-FZ1 with 12x optical zoom. To prevent jitter, which is often a problem with extreme zooming, the DMC-FZ1 uses a Mega Optical Image Stabilizer. The 2 Megapixel Panasonic DMC-FZ1 is targeted at entry-level users of SLR cameras and those who shoot pictures outdoors.
