Nikon issues a service notice for the Nikon D5000 digital SLRs. It turns out that a small number of the cameras cannot be operated when the power switch is turned on. This does happen when the camera is powered either by fully-charged battery or with the Power Connector EP-5 and AC Adapter EH-5a. Nikon is currently working to resolve this issue and is preparing to offer a repair service at Nikon service facilities starting next week.
