August 26, 2008 - 07.05 GMT Canon expands its EOS digital SLR series with the EOS 50D. The new SLR has been built upon the EOS 40D - which will remain in Canon's line - and features a 15.1-megapixel CMOS APS-C size image sensor that uses newly designed gapless micro lenses over each pixel to reduce noise and expand sensitivity up to ISO 12800. The camera's new DIGIC 4 image processor contributes to the fast 6.3 fps continuous shooting capability.
