With the introduction of the Ikon 35mm camera, Zeiss opened its doors, which had been closed since the 1970s, to the camera market. Now Zeiss launches the Ikon SW, a precision camera for the superwide photographers. It takes M mount lenses, in particular the Zeiss Distagon 15mm and Biogon. At the time of the Ikon launch, the question on a digital version was raised. The answer was then: "This may be a future possibility, however we presently cannot comment on any details".
