Sony issues Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 service notice

Sony has issued a service notice for the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 camera released on the market in March 2010. It appears that for a limited number of these cameras there's an issue where the coating adhesion of the lens cover may be weaker than expected. On rare occasions, a large portion of the coating may begin to peel away from the lens cover on these affected units.
If your unit is affected by this issue, Sony will offer a free of charge repair service of the lens cover for the period until March 31, 2013...

Sony has recognized that a limited number of its "Cyber-shot" DSC-TX5 Digital Still Cameras, released on the market in March 2010, have an issue where the coating adhesion of the lens cover may be weaker than expected. On rare occasions, a large portion of the coating may begin to peel away from the lens cover on these affected units.

If your unit is affected by this issue, Sony will offer a free of charge repair service of the lens cover for the period shown below.

From February 24, 2011 to March 31, 2013

Procedure
Please confirm the model name of your camera. If a large portion of the coating has peeled off from its lens cover due to this weaker coating adhesion, please contact a Sony Customer Information Centre.
