PRESS SUMMARY

Sony introduces professional photo printers and high speed roll printers - digital camera and photography newsDesigned for increased print speed and quality, Sony Electronics today introduced its latest UP-DR150 high-speed roll printer as well as its new UP-CX1 compact, professional digital photo printer.

Sony will also showcase its 8- by 10-inch UP-D75 digital photo printer designed for the professional portrait photography market.

“Our goal for this year's lineup was to show how our printers are evolving into leaner solutions capable of printing photos faster than earlier models, with an emphasis on image clarity and space-saving features, and the UP-DR150 and UP-CX1 printers support this concept,” said Lynda Falby, Sony Electronics' marketing manager for digital photofinishing products.

The UP-DR150 Digital Photo Printer

The latest UP-DR150 model can now produce 440 4- by 6-inch prints per hour. Speeds have also increased to seven seconds for a 4- by 6-inch print, and 13 seconds for a 5- by 7-inch print (actual print time).

Three types of finishes are available without changing the print pack: glossy, textured and matte.

“The UP-DR150 printer is poised to help provide long-term growth and overall customer satisfaction for businesses,” Falby said.

UP-CX1 Digital Photo Printer

The new UP-CX1 model is designed to produce crisp, vibrant digital photos in four different print sizes at 300 dpi.  Print speeds are fast: 13 seconds for 3.5- by 5-inch prints; 16 seconds for 4- by 6-inch prints; 17 seconds for 5- by  7-inch prints; and 21 seconds for 4- by 8-inch photo greeting cards (actual print time).

Measuring about 10.9 inches long and 10.4 inches wide, the UP-CX1 model is compact enough to fit in almost any busy work environment, such as on crowded countertops, and can be transferred between classrooms and offices with ease.  It also has a security slot to protect against theft.

“The UP-CX1 is easy to operate anywhere, including shopping malls, stores and kiosks, for the creation of greeting cards and other personalized items,” Falby said.  “With the printer's easy media replacement, retailers enjoy a low investment solution that makes no compromises when it comes to print quality.”

8 by 10-inch UP-D75 Digital Photo Printer

The 8- by 10-inch UP-D75 digital photo printer is designed to provide the necessary high image quality for the professional photography market.

“The UP-D75 printer brings a feature to the printing table scarce in the market today, but coveted by most portrait photographers,” Falby said.  “That feature is the Sony Pro Matte ™ finish for the photographic-quality images that are the mainstay of their businesses.”

The printer's refined printing sequence and longer life print head, as compared to its predecessor, allows 8- by 10-inch, 300 dpi photos to print in 80 seconds.

All of the printers use dye sublimation technology for photo-realistic quality prints, and Print By Sony™ media for long-lasting prints. They also feature USB 2.0 interfaces for high-speed image transfer.

The UP-DR150, UP-CX1 and UP-D75 digital photo printers are now available through authorized resellers for suggested list prices of $2,595, $1,250 and $2,399, respectively.
