Tokyo, July 10, 2003---SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. the world's leading producer of rechargeable batteries has announced the sale of a new AA-size Nickel Metal Hydride battery "Ni-MH 2300 series" ideal for heavy users of digital devices such as digital cameras because of its superior capacity. The Ni-MH 2300 series achieves the world top-class capacity for retail Nickel Metal Hydride batteries (rated capacity: 2300mAh(typ.) *2, nominal capacity: 2150mAh(min.)*3).

The Ni-MH 2300 series is scheduled to go on sale in the Japanese market September 10, 2003 for 2,200 yen (maker's suggested price) for a 4-battery pack (HR-3UB-4BP) and 1,100 yen (maker's suggested price) for a 2-battery pack (HR-3UB-2BP). Along with a rapid charger set (N-M56S) compatible with Nickel Metal Hydride and Nickel Cadmium batteries, for 6,800 yen (maker's suggested price).

Main features

The Ni-MH 2300 series achieves the world top-class capacity for retail Nickel Metal Hydride batteries due to an approximate 10% increase in capacity compared to SANYO's previous model. The AA-size high capacity Ni-MH 2300 series is ideal for mobile devices such as digital cameras, audio players and portable video games that require long lasting power. To achieve the world top-class capacity selected the perfect battery design and used SANYO's original high density charging technology to develop high capacity positive and negative polarity material.

For mobile devices that need a high electric current, like digital cameras and other mobile devices in the case of repeated use, it's important to maintain stability between the terminals and the batteries. In order to decrease the contact resistance SANYO introduced a new finish of material for the battery terminals in both positive and negative polarity. Even after repeated use able to maintain stable terminals to contact.

Keeping with SANYO's environmental friendly products didn't use polyvinyl chloride in blister package or in the battery itself. In consideration for the environment reduced waste because the product can be recycled.
