PRESS RELEASE |
The information contained in this news release applies only to the Japanese market. Summary Olympus Corporation (President: Tsuyoshi Kikukawa) is pleased to announce the introduction of the CAMEDIA X-350, an easy-to-use full-auto digital camera with 3x optical zoom and 3.2-megapixel imaging. The new CAMEDIA X-350 is a standard model that is designed to be easy enough for entry-level users to operate. It offers full-auto shooting that allows virtually anyone to capture high-quality images simply by sliding open the lens barrier and pressing the shutter button. It is equipped with a high-resolution zoom lens that maximizes the performance potential of the camera's 3.2-megapixel image sensor, and a newly developed TruePic TURBO image processor that assures class-leading image quality. In addition, the CAMEDIA X-350 features a large, 1.8-inch LCD monitor, Long-Time Movie Recording with sound, and a Super Macro mode that can produce full-screen images of objects the size of a coin. It offers a wide range of digital imaging functions. The camera's body further refines the design simplicity of the popular CAMEDIA X-250, and is slimmer than the CAMEDIA X-250's body by 3.5mm. A sliding lens barrier with metal design accents offers full-coverage protection for the lens and adds to the camera's visual appeal and sense of quality. Main Features High Image Quality with Full-Auto Shooting Ease Superior Image Quality In addition to a high-resolution CCD and a high-performance 3x optical zoom lens, the CAMEDIA X-350 is equipped with a newly developed TruePic TURBO high-speed image processor that assures high-fidelity image reproduction and crisp, clear 3.2-megapixel (effective pixels) image quality. Easy, Full-Auto Operation Full-auto operation allows users to take high-quality digital photos simply by sliding open the lens barrier and pressing the shutter button. In addition, the Virtual Mode Dial displayed on the LCD monitor now offers a choice of seven shooting modes including Movie mode (Program Auto, Portrait, Landscape-Portrait, Landscape, Night Scene, Self Portrait, and Movie), allowing users to quickly and easily apply the correct settings in virtually any type of shooting situation. Camera Shake Protection When shooting in low light, a new Camera Shake Protection feature automatically boosts ISO sensitivity and optimizes shutter speed and flash activation settings to help prevent the blurring that can be caused by camera shake. Auto Noise Canceling A new Auto Noise Canceling feature suppresses the noise that can degrade image quality when taking photos at slow shutter speeds. Activation is automatic at shutter speeds slower than 0.5 sec., ensuring beautiful photos with a minimum of effort, particularly when shooting at night. A Wealth of Digital Features and Functions Large, 1.8-inch LCD Monitor A 1.8-inch, high-definition LCD monitor provides a clear view for easy shooting. In addition, the monitor's large size makes it easier to share the excitement when viewing pictures with friends or family. Customizable Startup & Shutdown Screen The built-in LCD monitor can be set to show an image of the user's choosing at startup and shutdown. Super Macro Mode Super Macro mode allows users to shoot from as close as 7cm, so that a subject measuring approximately 27mm x 20mm fills the frame. As a result, it is possible to take close-up photos of individual coins and other small subjects. Long-Time Movie Recording with Sound Thanks to the same broad motion streaming technology featured on high-end models, movie length is limited only by the amount of available memory, making it possible to record up to a maximum of approximately two hours (in SQ mode with 512MB memory media). A microphone is built into the body to allow movie recording with sound, and an AV cable is included to allow movie and sound playback on a standard TV. Other Features PictBridge Direct Printing Support for PictBridge direct printing enables users to easily print to any PictBridge-enabled printer without using a computer. Easy-to-Use Digital Shooting & Editing Functions Basic digital image editing tasks can be performed in the camera without using a computer. 2-in-1 Imaging Combines the next two shots into a single split-screen image. It's a convenient way to combine images of a person's face and business card, or a dish and its recipe, into a single image. Monochrome & Sepia Modes Monochrome or sepia-tone versions of photos taken in color can be saved separately. Resize Function Allows users to reduce the size of an image right in the camera, providing a quick, easy way to create small image files for use as e-mail attachments. |
