Nikon launches the new Coolpix S7c, S7 and S8 - digital camera and photography newsStylish digital compacts packing higher quality and innovative functionality into surprisingly slim dimensions.

Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce the introduction of the COOLPIX S7c, S7 and S8. Three slim, sophisticated digital compact cameras, they pack good looks and great performance into compact dimensions, while offering the advantage of vibration reduction and innovations for in-camera image improvement.

Combining 7.1 effective megapixels of imaging performance with a 35-105mm (35mm equivalent) Zoom-Nikkor ED lens, the COOLPIX S7c, S7 and S8 can capture everything from wide-open landscapes to tight portraits with outstanding clarity and true-to-life color. And because they each feature a large, bright LCD monitor with an unusually wide 170-degree viewing angle (COOLPIX S7c and S7: 3.0-inch, S8: 2.5-inch), they realize smoother composition and high-quality playback anywhere. What's more, each camera offers e-VR and other Vibration Reduction capabilities that can compensate for camera shake and unsteady subjects to realize sharper, clearer results. Anti-shake mode can automatically activate e-VR and BSS that selects the sharpest image from up to ten sequential shots, while also setting the optimal ISO for steady results. High-Sensitivity mode also makes the most of the cameras' exceptionally high light sensitivity by choosing the optimal setting up to ISO 1600 for the shooting of fast-moving subjects or clearer results in lower light.

The COOLPIX S7c offers the additional benefit of built-in IEEE 802.11b/g LAN support. With a Wi-Fi antenna set unobtrusively into its stylish body, it supports wireless image transfer that sends pictures to a computer on command, wireless shooting that sends each shot to a computer as soon as it's taken and wireless printing to PictBridge-compatible printers*. The COOLPIX S7c is also compatible with Nikon's all-new COOLPIX CONNECT service that lets users take pictures, then send them to friends across the world in mere seconds. What's more, it's absolutely free of charge! Just take the shots, select recipients from the in-camera address list and send them straight from the camera's built-in Wi-Fi antenna to a local wireless network**.

Making it easier than ever to get great-looking pictures, the COOLPIX S7c, S7 and S8 each feature a handy One-touch portrait button that acts as a shortcut to three unique Nikon image innovations – with Face-priority AF*** automatically focusing on people's faces for satisfyingly sharp portraits, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix allowing photographers to compensate for unwanted red-eye effects in-camera, and D-Lighting rescuing underexposed images or shots taken with too much backlight. Satisfying shooting is made easier still with a choice of 15 Scene modes.

Extending the enjoyment beyond shooting, the COOLPIX S7c, S7 and S8 offer the in-camera entertainment of Pictmotion – a function that lets users select their favorite images and movies as well as music and visual styles ready for the COOLPIX S7c, S7 and S8 to combine them automatically in-camera to produce audiovisual shows that can be enjoyed anywhere on the large built-in LCD. Each of the cameras also features a new Stop-motion movie function that lets users create professional-looking animated movies.

Nikon adds to the photographic versatility of the COOLPIX S7c, S7 and S8 by supplying the COOL-STATION MV-14 with the S8 and the COOL-STATION MV-15 with the COOLPIX S7c and S7. Handy cradles allowing the camera to be simply slipped in, they allow batteries to be recharged without them having to be removed from the camera. They also each feature a USB port and can easily be hooked up to a TV. Also included is a Dock Insert PV-10 with the COOLPIX S8 and a Dock Insert PV-11 with the COOLPIX S7c and S7, which add immediate direct print performance with ImageLink-compatible printers. And, like all COOLPIX cameras, the COOLPIX S7c, S7 and S8 come complete with Nikon's unique PictureProject software that makes it surprisingly easy to edit, organize and share images and is compatible with a range of available plug-ins for further functionality.
